Take a scenic train ride with Kitsuné: When traveling is a 'basic instinct'

The new Maison Kitsuné Spring/Summer 2026 collection brings a renewed urban feel with outdoor inspiration.

Maison Kitsuné was born from a trip by its two founders, Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, to Japan – half a world away from France, involving thousands of miles of flight and possibly layovers in one or two unfamiliar cities. So it's no surprise that at some point, the little fox of glamorous Paris rediscovered its travel inspiration as a primal instinct. That moment is this Spring/Summer.

With its familiar origins in the French capital, the Maison Kitsuné Spring/Summer 2026 collection reached out to the world. In Vietnam, the brand invited nine young guests on an adventure aboard a train. The event invited them to explore the new season in a creative and unique way, stemming from the genuine affection and special favor that the Fox brand has for its "fanbase" in Vietnam.

The mischievous fox Kitsuné wanders through every corner of the luxury train compartment.

The luxury passenger train is where the sky meets the vast blue sea outside the window, and inside, the Paris-Tokyo fashion heritage meets the heritage of luxury travel. The Vietage, one of the most luxurious train carriages in the Asia-Pacific region, together with the Anantara Quy Nhon resort, creates a romantic setting for an elegant journey.

The final destination: a night party under the stars, white sand, golden candlelight, and glasses overflowing with exhilarating champagne bubbles.

Prominent young people from various artistic and creative fields dressed stylishly from departure to arrival and had a blast, culminating in a romantic evening dinner by the sea, complete with "Voyage Vestiaire." "Voyage wardrobe" is also the theme of this season's Maison Kitsuné collection.

"Voyage Vestiaire" encourages wearers to explore the world from a completely new perspective, whether the destination is new or old, whether they've been in a long-distance relationship for a long time or are complete strangers. Therefore, the Parisian brand chose train travel instead of airplane: the feeling of the entire adventure gliding past the window like an old film reel, something a flight through the clouds can't provide. Fashion is a more exciting journey when you slow down and open your eyes wide. The means of transport is no longer just a method, but the adventure itself.

The Spring/Summer 2026 collection is both familiar and unfamiliar, like an adventure on a railway track. Parisian elegance clashes with Japanese meticulousness, blending tradition and modernity in every design. The silhouettes are simplified without being sloppy, offering ample versatility to easily transition from daytime to late-night wear. The color palette evokes a Parisian summer afternoon: earthy tones, pale greens, blush pinks; and somewhere, a beautiful Haussmann building appears, like a postcard sent to a distant land.

These men's wardrobes reinvent classic preppy attire, fearlessly blending a touch of ruggedness from technical fabrics or tailored structures alongside the traditional materials and lines of high fashion. The urban vibe is refreshed by the outdoor inspiration of trench coats, fishing jackets, and hunting gilets: a wink for today's city gentlemen who still conceal a youthful spirit amidst the joys of adulthood.

Meanwhile, feminine fashion harmonizes solid structural discipline with soft movement, perfect for modern women who embrace "dressing well and traveling far" as their guiding principle year-round. This is evident in the effortless embrace of a figure-flattering ribbed knit cardigan or the familiar, loose-fitting, solid-colored hoodie. Denim, a timeless best friend of any woman's wardrobe, returns with its exquisitely refined traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

"The collection aims to create a highly functional yet poetic wardrobe, reflecting the two halves of Maison Kitsuné's soul: Paris and Tokyo."

—Abigail Smiley-Smith

The massive machinery of today's silk industry draws fashion lovers into ever-expanding collections: from spring to summer, from early summer to summer solstice, from evening wear to resort wear, turning four seasons into "fourteen seasons." Maison Kitsuné's creative director remains detached from this. She reflects on the Tokyo character of the brand she leads – a personality very different from powerful fashion empires or the fast fashion industry.

Drawing inspiration from the minimalist spirit of Japanese culture, Abigail Smith presents a collection that encapsulates an entire season in a single, neat wardrobe, as beautiful as the art of furoshiki wrapping—simplified yet versatile, to the point where you can simply grab whatever you like and pack your bags. It's romantically classic, reminiscent of a hundred years ago when journeys were rare and delays meant missing out on a lifetime of opportunities. People would hastily pack, slip on their shoes, and head straight from the city to the bustling port while luxurious ocean liners were still emitting smoke, express trains still bore the elegant gold Orient inscription, and the iron birds had only recently taken flight—yet they remained absolutely elegant.

Maison Kitsuné wants to preserve that primal instinct for us: the clothes are already beautiful, just wear them and you'll look beautiful, just go for it. Like a cunning fox emerging from its den after a cold winter, stretching and transforming into an adorable little red-furred creature of spring, without a second thought, plunging into an endless field of flowers. Perhaps never before has a Maison Kitsuné collection been so "Kitsuné" as this Spring/Summer collection by Abigail.

In Vietnam, Maison Kitsuné is officially distributed by Tam Son International Company.
