Natural materials with global certification.

In recent years, linen clothing has become increasingly popular thanks to its natural material and breathable, quick-drying properties, making it suitable for a variety of occasions and weather conditions. At UNIQLO, this material is developed with consistent attention to detail throughout the entire process, from raw material selection to product completion.

A highlight is the Premium Linen Shirt line, made from 100% flax grown in Western Europe, a region with ideal natural conditions and long-standing farming expertise. This is a crucial foundation for producing flax fibers that meet global standards.

Furthermore, UNIQLO's raw materials are certified Masters of FLAX FIBRE™ – ensuring traceability verified by a third party. The flax is grown using environmentally friendly methods, requiring no irrigation, is non-GMO, and uses minimal fertilizers. After harvesting, the flax is processed mechanically, creating no waste. From the fibers and wood core to the seeds, the entire plant is utilized in the production process.

Meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail.

UNIQLO's premium linen shirt production process begins with the flax spinning stage. After removing impurities from the raw material, the fibers are carefully combed and straightened, a process repeated a total of five times to create a shiny and durable yarn.

During the dyeing process, the color formula is created through the combination of 120 dyes, resulting in a finished fabric with rich colors, high quality, and a smooth, glossy surface.

The raw fibers are further processed manually, through visual inspection and hand manipulation. The product is simultaneously finished using various sewing techniques for each part, such as sewing the lower sleeve hem or sewing the placket with three folds, to increase durability during washing and use.
