Kỳ Duyên responds to netizens regarding completing her mission of building schools after winning the beauty pageant.
Notably, Ky Duyen also clearly expressed her dissatisfaction with being scrutinized in a one-sided manner.
Recently, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen unexpectedly came under fire. Netizens collectively questioned the missions the beauty queen had committed to after winning the crown, especially the project to build 10 schools for children in disadvantaged areas.
Without hesitation, Ky Duyen directly responded. She stated that she had completed 7 out of 10 schools as planned, while the remaining 3 projects were in the process of obtaining permits due to difficulties with terrain and construction conditions.
"Regarding building schools, I think you're scrutinizing me too much. Why don't you know how many schools I've built already? I've completed 7 out of 10 schools. The remaining 3 are still awaiting permits because the construction area is very difficult. Hey, building schools isn't like building sandcastles; I've been, am, and will continue to do it. Most of it is for the children, and a very small part is for you! Remember to update your information fully and accurately," Ky Duyen responded.
Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen was born in 1996 in Nam Dinh. She was the winner of the Miss Vietnam 2014 pageant . After winning the title, Ky Duyen mainly worked in the fashion industry. She has been invited to be a judge and coach in various competitions and programs such as The Look Vietnam 2017, Vietnam Supermodel 2018, Miss Sports 2022, The Face Vietnam 2023, etc.
She rarely spoke about the scandal that occurred shortly after she was crowned Miss Vietnam 2014. She said: "I never thought I would become Miss Vietnam. My family is in business, and I got accepted into the Foreign Trade University with a degree in Economics, but then I became Miss Vietnam."
"Miss is a huge title for an 18-year-old girl. My family and I had no experience in this role whatsoever. At that time, I was like a blank page, very difficult to draw the lines I wanted. From 2014 to 2016, I went through a lot of upheaval. I set a goal to change so that the audience who didn't have a good impression of me would reconsider. And I have achieved that today."
Ky Duyen is one of the most famous beauty queens in showbiz.
Kỳ Duyên also reflected on the past: "There's a saying I really appreciate, which is 'blame yourself first, then others.' I've always felt that the results and consequences are due to my own actions, not because I'm unlucky or because people hate me. When I was under 20, the public saw me entering a glamorous world, but only then did I understand how much pressure and difficulty there was. In the first two years, I faced many challenges and learned valuable lessons. Stepping out of that turmoil, I understood that all the negativity wasn't because the audience hated me, but because I created opportunities for them to have negative feelings towards me. As soon as I realized that, I set a goal to change and gradually regain the audience's favor . "
"There are things that wouldn't provoke such a strong reaction from an ordinary person. For example, the way I slept on the plane – it was a very private moment, and I was in a state of not being in control. But someone still took that picture. Only after it happened did I realize I need to always be careful."
Miss Ky Duyen recently shared her feelings about the controversies of the past.
"During my two-year reign as Miss Vietnam, I was too young. As Ms. Linh said, I was wearing a dress that was too big for me in terms of the responsibility I had to carry. I was in my adolescence, and my psychology wasn't completely stable. I had to endure the pressure of public opinion and stress."
"With the mindset at that time, I felt I was not at fault. The fact that my appearance was like that wasn't my fault. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I had just won the biggest beauty pageant and was criticized about my appearance that very night ," said Miss Ky Duyen.
